Frequently Asked Questions

This page is a work in progress and will continue to be updated as we get closer to our opening this October. Please feel free to email any questions to Bumble, our Chief Treats Officer, at bumble@bumblesbackyard.com. He has all the answers.

  • I cannot WAIT to visit! When are you opening??
We are even more excited to welcome you and your pup(s) to Bumble’s Backyard! We are opening in October 2024. Construction is going smoothly, and as soon as we have solidified a grand opening date in October, we will shout it from the rooftops! When we open, our hours will be: Closed Monday and Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday 2-8 pm Friday 2-10 pm Saturday 11 am-10 pm Sunday 11 am-8 pm These hours are subject to change. Our goal is to be open for more hours so you can start and end your day with us any day of the week!
  • What is a dog park bar?
It’s essentially paradise for you and your pup! Think about it - how many places are there in Columbus where you and your dog can have a great time? Public dog parks are like the wild west; you never know if an unfriendly dog is going to show up and cause chaos. Plus, there’s nowhere to sit, get a drink, stay cool in the summer and warm in the winter, or use the restroom. Trash cans are overflowing, you’ll probably step in something yucky, and half the time the dog park isn’t even open! The other option is a dog-friendly patio. While you have fun with your friends, your dog is tied up on a leash in the same spot for hours. At a dog park bar, you can say goodbye to all of these problems. Grab a drink with your friends, read a book, or get some work done while your pup unleashes all of their energy in our 10,000 sqft turf dog park. You can finally relax because you know that your dog is safe, happy, and having the time of their life - and so are you!
  • Where are you located?
Bumble’s Backyard is located in Columbus, Ohio at 1280 Brown Road in South Franklinton.
  • What is required for my dog to enter the park?
All dogs must be social and non-aggressive. A temperament test may be conducted by management prior to entering the park. Additionally, all dogs must be registered online prior to visiting the park and adhere to the following requirements: Dogs must be up-to-date on their Rabies, Distemper, Parvo, and Canine Hepatitis vaccinations (typically DHPP or DAPPv). Dogs must be spayed or neutered if over 12 months old. Dogs must not be in heat. Dogs must be flea and tick free. Dogs must pass a temperament test on site during their first visit. Pretty much, if a dog daycare requires it, so do we!
  • How much does it cost to bring my dog to Bumble’s Backyard?
Fetch a month pass or annual membership for your pup HERE! Month passes and annual memberships activate on your first visit to Bumble’s Backyard and last for the following month or year. Annual memberships can be paid in one payment or each month. Annual memberships cannot be canceled until the year has passed. For any level of membership, if your dog’s behavior is unfit for Bumble’s Backyard or they are downright having a miserable time, we can offer a refund or membership cancellation if there is no way to resolve the situation. If you purchase a pass or membership before we open, you will receive an email sometime in October inviting you to join our membership platform on Gingr. Once you create an account and upload all of the necessary information for your pup, your purchases will be loaded into your account. Our annual membership comes with some (p)awesome perks like one guest pass per month, BOGO drinks on Wednesdays, unlimited park access during open hours, access to the park before opening hours on select days, first dibs on tickets to special events, and 10% off private parties and merchandise!
  • Is Bumble’s Backyard an indoor or outdoor park?
Bumble’s Backyard is completely outdoors. We did lots of research when building the park and found a few reasons why indoor dog parks aren’t ideal: They are less sanitary than outdoor parks. They can teach dogs bad habits, such as doing their business indoors. They have more corners that create an unsafe environment for people and dogs. We are committed to making your experience at Bumble’s Backyard a comfortable and fun one. In the summer, we will have lots of shade and refreshments for you and your pup. In the winter, we will have outdoor heaters, hot beverages, and a fully covered tent to hang out in. All seating areas will be cleared of snow and moisture as best as they can, and we hope to offer hand warmers and blankets, too!
  • Will you be open all year?
That's the plan! We'll be open year round regardless of the weather, unless weather conditions make it unsafe for us to open or ask our employees to come to work. In the colder months we will have a covered and heated area for humans and pups to stay warm. Umbrellas and other coverage will provide shade and protection from rain as well. Our dogs need to play no matter the weather, so we will be open for them all year!
  • If I don’t have a dog, can I still come?
YES! Whether you’re a dog-less dog-lover or you’re visiting/living in Columbus away from your pup, you are welcome to visit Bumble’s Backyard and take advantage of some free dog therapy. You do not need a membership to come to the park without a pup!
  • What does a Barktender do?
Our Barktenders make sure that rules are being followed, keep up on park cleanliness, and maintain a calm, safe, and positive play environment. They will make sure that you and your dog feel at home when you visit Bumble's Backyard! However, our Barktenders do not pet sit. Dog havers should relax and have fun, but also monitor and clean up after their dog(s) as much as possible.
  • Can I leave my dog at Bumble’s Backyard?
No. We are not a daycare; you must enter and leave the park with your dog. Our Barktenders are present to monitor the behavior of all dogs and maintain a clean park, not to pet-sit.
  • Can my children enter the off-leash area?
We love kids, but Bumble’s Backyard is a place for dogs. Children 14 years and older can visit Bumble’s Backyard with parent or guardian supervision only. We plan to host family days regularly — stay tuned for an update on when those will be held. If you bring your child to Bumble’s Backyard, we strongly recommend that you keep an eye on them to prevent any mishaps with the pups. Ensure your child knows there is no running in the park, no teasing/taunting dogs, and no climbing on the play equipment.
  • What kind of drinks and food do you offer?
We look forward to carrying lots of your favorite Columbus beers from local breweries. We may offer cocktails in the future. We’ll have a variety of non-alcoholic drink options like local soda and kombucha. Bumble’s Backyard will also serve handcrafted coffee drinks brewed with beans from One Line, one of our favorite Columbus coffee shops. But wait, there’s more! As you may know, Bumble’s Backyard was formerly an ice cream shop called Double Happy, where we made the best (and only) homemade soft serve in Columbus. We’ll continue to serve delicious soft serve cones, milkshakes, and sundaes seasonally. We will not serve any food at Bumble’s Backyard to keep the pups on their best behavior. No food, treats, or toys are allowed in the off-leash area. We will have seating outside of the off-leash area where you are welcome to bring your own food. There is great Mexican food and pizza across the street from Bumble’s Backyard!
  • Can I book a private event?
Yes! Check back soon to access our calendar where you can book birthday parties (for you or your pup!), office outings, private dog group meetups, and more. The general cost for hosting a Bumble’s Backyard event will be $100/hour for 10 pups and a dedicated Barktender. Additional hours will be $25/hour.
  • Do you have wifi?
We sure do! You can access our wifi network at any corner of the park. Why WFH (work from home) when you can WFBB (work from Bumble’s Backyard)?
  • Are there any breed restrictions?
Absolutely not. All socialized and vaccinated dogs are welcome to play at Bumble’s Backyard.
  • Is there a small dog area?
We have a separate area of the park that will be used for private events and for small or low energy dogs to play on busy days.
  • Are the plants at Bumble’s Backyard safe for dogs?
Of course! Details on specific plants to come, but rest assured they will all be non-toxic for the pups.
